The history of the Alfredo Di Roma restaurant, birthplace of the world-famous Fettuccine all'Alfredo, began when Alfredo Di Lelio, a young passionate about gastronomy, started his odyssey in a small restaurant owned by his parents. Years later, and due to the birth of his first child, he found the path that would make him famous thanks to his Fettuccine.The story goes that when his wife became pregnant, she completely lost her appetite and nothing they offered her to eat was appealing to her. After many unsuccessful recipes and desperate, Alfredo di Lelio prepared a pasta made with light semolina, homemade butter and parmesan cheese that, to his surprise, enchanted his wife and made her regain her appetite. This is how the Fettuccine Alfredo was born, which to this day is one of the most acclaimed dishes of Italian cuisine in the world.With the years, the tradition was passed from father to son and from son to grandson, and this is how Alfredo II, proud heir of the dynasty, expanded the borders of his empire until reaching Mexico. In November 1996, Alfredo Di Roma opened its doors at the Presidente InterContinental hotel, which has been its home for more than 22 years during which it has delighted millions of diners with exquisite dishes, created by Chef Mauro Chiecchio, who has been at the helm of the kitchen since the restaurant opened.After this first stage of life, Alfredo Di Roma gave way to an extensive remodeling that completely changed the face of the restaurant, leaving it ready to conquer a new generation of diners and food lovers who appreciate Italian culinary tradition.In 2019, Alfredo di Roma received the Grand Award, represented by three cups, from Wine Spectator magazine, which rewards restaurants for their excellent gastronomy, service, and extensive and important wine list.
